Profile

I enjoy solving problems, which is one of the main reasons I've pursued a software development career. I have a strong desire to produce quality programs that are both intuitive for the end user and flexible for developers. I love learning new ideas and techniques and applying them in my projects. My dream job would be one that embraces new technology, and utilizes my knowledge while adding to it.

Outside of the computer world one might find me jogging, playing basketball, or occasionally football. I enjoy beating my friends in xbox 360 games (Halo, Call of Duty 4), or just reading a good book.

Professional Experience

Systems Developer / Flex Lead
Feb. 2006 - Present
Cigars International, Bath, PA
In my first year my main focus was to develop and update scripts for several cigar related websites operated by Cigars International.
  • Developed a flexible promotional offer system which gave customers a special offer based on a variety of information
  • Migrated many slow perfoming queries into stored procedures for both speed and security
  • Updated scripts to ensure the sites remained PCI-Compliant and fixed any existing security holes
  • Introduced Ajax and other popular languages / concepts to the development team
  • Developed a ticketing system in Coldfusion to quickly assign, assess, and resolve internal issues
After my first year my role changed to develop and support internal applications. My primary project was to migrate the existing internal application (M.O.M.) to a new program I developed which can create orders, manage inventory, and maintain stock items, among many other things. Some of the other notable tasks I've performed during this migration:
  • Created a batch charge program to process credit cards via CyberSource
  • Updated the ordering application and websites to accept Bill-Me-Later & Internet Check payments via CyberSource
  • Updated the ordering application and websites to accept PayPal payments via Cardinal Commerce
  • Developed MS SQL assemblies in C# for common tasks such as encryption & decryption
  • Developed a fully functional retail P.O.S. system which could process credit cards based on their swiped track data and print custom receipts
  • Replaced many old legacy marketing and accounting reports
  • Redesigned many aspects of the databases
